Downtown Parking

What is a parking pay station?

A pay station is an automated kiosk that accepts coins bills, credit cards, debit cards and ParkNow cards.

How do you properly display a receipt?

The pay station will print a receipt that should be placed on the dashboard of your vehicle with the expiration time visible.

What happens if the pay station doesn’t work?

If you are having problems with a parking pay station, please call the City of St. Augustine’s Parking Division at 904.825.1034, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5p.m.

If a situation occurs when an individual unit goes completely down, a report is immediately sent to city staff (via computer) notifying them of a problem. In the meantime, customers can still park in a space near a pay station as long as they purchase a receipt from another nearby pay station.

Can you receive a parking ticket while you are paying at a pay station?

There is no need to worry about being at a pay station and receiving a parking ticket since stations are within a reasonable, visible distance. The Parking Enforcement Officers check to see if anyone is using a nearby pay station.

How will businesses be affected by the new pay stations?

The new parking pay stations will encourage more parking turnover, which will make it easier for customers to access local businesses.

What is a ParkNow card?

This is a card offered for discounted parking of $ .50 an hour instead of the $1.50 an hour rate. These cards are available for purchase in the City’s parking division at the Financial Services Center, 50 Bridge Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

Is there an initial charge for the ParkNow card?

Yes, the initial charge for a card is $2.50, which is a one-time charge for each card purchased. Once you have used all the time on the card, you may purchase more time on the same card at the City’s Financial Services Center.

What are the hours of enforcement?

Our Parking Enforcement Officers begin at 8:00 am and work until 5:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, excluding federal holidays.  The area from Charlotte to Cordova streets and from Cathedral Place to King St. around the Plaza de la Constitucion and the West Government House Park parking enforcement does not begin until 10 am.

How can a citation be paid?

Payment can be made by mail, in person and over the phone by credit card at 904.825.1034. If mailing in the payment, please send check or money order made payable to the “City of St. Augustine” for the correct amount, with the citation number. (DO NOT ENCLOSE CASH) If paying in person, the City’s Financial Services Center is located at 50 Bridge Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

How will I know how to use the new machines?

Each machine provides user-friendly instructions.

When using a pay station, what happens if I purchase one hour of parking and then realize I need two hours? Can I buy another hour and display both tickets on my dashboard?

No. Each ticket will display the purchase and expiration times. Parking enforcement will be based on the expiration time on the ticket. Since both tickets would have been purchased at essentially the same time, both will expire at the same time.

How do I contest a parking ticket?

In the event you receive a parking citation and would like to contest it, please call the City’s Financial Services Center at 904.825.1034, Monday-Friday 7:30 am-5:00 pm. Or appear in person at 50 Bridge Street during the same business hours. This must be done within 15 days of receiving the citation. No appeals will be processed after the 15th day. Please note the City of St. Augustine is closed for the major holidays.
