Foundation has distributed $40 million in first responder assistance

St. Augustine Fire Chief Carlos Aviles has been named to a four year term on the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation’s board of directors.

Aviles, who was named fire chief in the fall of 2016 is active in the US Army Reserve following a career in the US Army Military Police that included tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

"It is a privilege and honor to give back to an amazing organization that has helped so many first responders by providing them with essential lifesaving equipment,” said Aviles.

Since its founding in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded more than $40 million funding for lifesaving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders and public safety organizations.

Along with Aviles, the other new directors are Chief Lakesha Burton, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, District Chief Robin Gainey, Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Department, and Chris Holmes, Area Representative, Firehouse Subs
