Expect intermittent traffic interruptions on Malaga Street
Construction of Flagler College’s parking facility on Malaga St. will cause intermittent traffic interruptions that will prevent through-traffic between King St. and Ponce de Leon Blvd. (US 1).
Local traffic to the dozen businesses on the street will be maintained and operations of the St. Augustine Fire Department will be uninterrupted.
These interruptions, which will continue for approximately six weeks, are caused by the arrival of precast concrete structural supports delivered on flat-bed tractor-trailer trucks. Deliveries are scheduled only on Monday - Friday starting at 8:30am with the last truck arriving at approximately 4:00pm, care being taken to try to avoid the midday lunch hour.
All pre-cast deliveries are to avoid using King St. which requires that the truck enter and depart Malaga St. via Ponce de Leon Blvd. (US 1). Flag personnel will be present at all times to manage the trucks and local traffic.
Additionally, there will be no on-street parking available on the west side of Malaga at any time day or night until the completion of this phase of the project. On-street parking on the east side of Malaga will remain open.
