Where to find current Zika information
As the Zika virus and mosquito control continues to headline many news casts, St. Augustine residents are reminded to take the simple and necessary precautions to prevent creating friendly habitats for the breeding of mosquitoes.
Locally, the Anastasia Mosquito Control District is persistently and carefully monitoring our area and working with the local business community to provide information about how to prevent mosquito breeding and infestation.
St. Augustine and St. Johns County residents and businesses are looking for the most current and most local information. Certainly a very good place to start are these websites:
Anastasia Mosquito Control District (www.amcdsjc.org), and
the Florida Department of Health in St Johns County (stjohns.floridahealth.gov).
Both sites are info-filled resources on everything mosquito related, including tips on prevention, fact-based information about the virus and its carriers, as well the most recent local information and easy links to state and national information related to the virus and mosquito control.
The Florida Department of Health has created a simple to read and follow flyer with information about mosquitos that is great as a handout at civic clubs or in neighborhoods, or just to place on the refrigator at home. To download and print, or just view online, click here.
