Historic Downtown Parking Facility tops 3.5 millionth vehicle
Last year saw more than 8,500 vehicles over pervious year
Sometime during the month of December, the city's Historic Downtown Parking Facility (HDPF) welcomed its 3.5 millionth vehicle, and then welcomed an additional 17,270 vehicles before the end of the year.
The 1,200 vehicle capacity facility first opened in July 2006 and by all accounts has filled a need for the city's downtown area. Since opening through December 31, 3,517,270 vehicles have parked in the facility located adjacent to the St. Augustine Visitor Information Center at 10 S. Castillo Dr.
In 2016, December was the facility's busiest month with 53,920 vehicles parked, followed by March with 46,954, and July with 40,348. December 2016 accommodated nearly 5,000 more vehicles than December 2015.
Total vehicles parked in the HDPF in 2016 was 414,542, an increase by more the 8,500 vehicles over the previous year.
